Trip Breakdown

I've been to Mexico a few times in short spurts (mainly via cruises as a courtesy of my dad for family vacation). However, I decided to specifically go to Cancun to get more time in the destination to make a determining view of the USA's southern neighbor. When other locations were too expensive for my budget-friendly taste at the time I opted for a quick trip to Cancun. I scoured the web for the kind of all-inclusive experience that would allow me to truly relax for a decent price given the short notice. This is when I happened upon the luxurious Haven Riviera Resort! Loved this 5-star resort so much I went more than once - let me tell you why.


Haven Riviera Highlights

  • You won't hear any screaming children during this trip - the resort is ADULTS ONLY

  • No chilly dips - pools and swim-out suites are all heated to 76F / 24C

  • Six à la carte restaurants and eight stunning bars (I ate at the Tahani restaurant - YUM!)

  • 24-hour room service! I thoroughly abused this amenity during my stays

  • 10miles/15km drive from the airport to minimize transfer time and maximize vacation time

  • Haven is an all-suites resort for more intimacy and seclusion


Romanticize life with the romance suite


The first suite I stayed in was the Romance Suite; a romantic experience for couples. I am notorious for scouting out romance getaways alone because of course - self love is the best love. I highly recommend this room to get the most bang for your buck. Let me tell you, the suite is equipped for the lovers wanting to indulge in a romantic getaway.

I'm also happy to report that Romance Junior Suites is the best kind of suite since each suite includes:

  • Chocolate-dipped strawberries 

  • Sparkling bottle of wine

  • Semi-private romantic dinner in any of the first class restaurants

  • Private jacuzzi prepared on the evening of your choice with aromatherapy oils and rose petals

  • Romantic breakfast in your suite or in your suite privacy box

Junior Suite Swim Out-Garden View

Swim on up to your suite


The second go round I stayed at the Junior Suite Swim Out-Garden View. This time my stay wasn't as lux as the Romance suite, but for my even more last minute trip it was a room still very much worth the trip. I enjoyed a little nap on my terrace and took some time to read my new novel and soak up some sun on my lounge chair within my swim-out pool. To say the swim out pool was refreshing was an understatement. The only downside to this suite is that is is downstairs so I was more susceptible to noise from nearby construction and talkative neighbors. Preferably the Romance suites are the way to go for more seclusion.

These were the two suites I stayed in, but there are a number to choose from that offer all the same amenities, if not more. The 5-star resort was more affordable than some of it's nearby counterpart resorts which was a big selling point for me.



If you need a bit more excitement


There are a options to choose from including:

  • The MySenses Spa which includes a hydrotherapy circuit for massage services (my massage not he beach was divine)

  • Yoga, Macrame Workshops, and Cooking Classes

  • Night life entertainment with live shows
